I have a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban LTZ. The rear tilt gears are both stripped. I have already confirmed this. I would be willing to take instructional pictures for your business. I would like to replace both front and rear tilts. I would take pictures of the broken gears and the replacement process. Please let me know.

Default Seat twist

I have 2004 tahoe, LT, 2WD. Driver seat only moves forward and back on left slide rail. Right side does not move... No obstruction causing problem. I assume it's the right side cable from motor to rail or gear. Anyone else have this problem or know the common culprit? Thanks in advance!

You an view these products in the GM Trucks section of our website, here :

GM Trucks auto parts

I was contacted recently by a GM truck owner who complained about the gears in the power seat mechanism on his Suburban. It looks like GM is also using the same brittle plastic for these gears that they are notorious for in the power folding mirrors. We all know how that turned out.

So, chime in here - do you have any experience with problems in your power seats, any pictures, or any related documentation ? We can develop replacement brass gears and evaluate building replacement high torque motors for the seats, if you guys want us to.

As always, you can call or email me directly if you prefer.

Thanks and we look forward to continuing to support the forum users and these great trucks !
I have a 2010 chevy Silverado LTZ with these gears in the seats and mirrors. Two have broken so far with more to come I am sure. My moms Cadillac has the same issue in her drivers seat. GM knows they screwed the pooch on this design by listening to the bean counters to make the parts cheaper. When will they ever take accountability for their bad decision on parts. I inherited the truck from my dad so I am stuck with it since it has sentimental value to me, but my Honda Ridgeline with 235k miles is much more dependable than my Chevy Silverado with 65k miles on it. I know why the U.S. auto industry is having a hard time competing. It isn't the union labor building them, or the raw materials used, but it is the corporate greed on display by using the cheapest parts available all while charging the maximum price for their vehicles. If we want to compete on the world stage we need to put out a quality product so we don't lose the market share we currently enjoy due to no direct foreign competition in certain classes eg. pickups. I would love to see us exporting vehicles that are superior to foreign competitors, but until bean counters stop lowering the quality of vehicles for short term profits we will never win.

My 2007 Tahoe had to have the drivers seat for/aft motor replaced(that's what the dealership said).I suspect some body at the dealership ran it all the way forward until it broke on purpose. It was probably just the gears.

Default 2015 Suburban Drivers Power Seat "Dead Short"

My 2015 Suburban LT drivers power seat has a "dead short".

First, the drivers seat 30amp fuse blew. So I replaced it. Drivers seat then worked fine, all functions were fine. Set up the memory seat positions, everything.
2 days later, drivers power seat 30amp fuse blew again.

So, obviously something is wrong with the seat, so I don't want to replace the fuse again until I can figure it out. Because the new fuse temporarily "fixed" everything (all seat functions working), I have made the assumption (?) that the switches and motors are fine, so I must have a "dead short" in the wiring, probably under the seat.

Which brings me to my question. I have been watching YouTube videos, trying to understand how to tilt-up the cushion on the drivers seat so I can have a look at the wiring. The YouTube videos indicate there are 2 bolts (13mm) on either side of the bottom of the seat cushion, and removing those will let me tilt-up the seat cushion.

For the life of me, I cannot find anything on the underside of my drivers seat that looks anything like what the YouTube videos advise me to look for. I believe my 2015 Suburban is a "early 2015" model, since it did not come with WIFI , which the "later 2015" models came with, if that makes a difference. If anyone has advise for me, I would appreciate it!

Default Short

My 07 Tahoe had some broken wires in the left front door protection boot housing all the wires that go from the door to the body. The left front door gets the most use/abuse, as does the left front window motor. The boot disconnects from the door and body pretty easy. Just slide it back over the wires and check them. I hope your 2015 is the same.

thanks for the reply.
You are correct, as I have already replaced the drivers window motor.

I appreciate your insight.
