Hello, I am new to the forum,thanks for allowing me into the group.
Question..
I own a 2003 z71 tahoe.
When I have the AC on and give it some gas I get a terrible screeching/grinding sound from under the hood. While it is making the noise if I turn the AC off.....the sound stops. What is this???

I can't reproduce it for a service tech...they of course can not find anything wrong with it.

How can I fix this issue?

I am the first and only owner...its been an awesome vehicle for me. Any help would be great.

Two things come to mind, slipping belt and trashed A/C compressor [].
