2013 SUBURBAN Chirping noise
Need help diagnosing possible issue before I take to a shop! Shifted really hard when I put in Reverse then started making clicking sound that turned into a chirp. Very LOUD Chirp. Took both the serpentine belts off, still chirping.
Standard transmission. Still chirpping with belts off. Not sure where chirpping is coming from. It's loud so a little hard to tell. Just checked transmission fluid -- it appears low, what little is there is clear. Would that cause the noise? Thanks for the reply.
sounds like something in the tranny isnt getting lubed..this is only a guess.. but when my standard transmission did the same noise the loud churping then grinding or clicking then CLUNK! i couldnt go a foot further in any gear but 1st gear. Found out my transmission had several gears with broken teeth.
Assuming this may not be your situation...and how low the gear oil level is will be hard to tell just by what you have described .
At this point.. if the vehicle in question is a daily commute vehicle and you "need" it each day...I would highly suggest you take it in to have it checked. But you will be greeted with a "we can take it apart to check it out" quote.....$. Well if that is the case... just get it fixed, or put in a used one...or just let the pro who has the tools to fix it in a day or two. Without knowing the history of the vehicle it will be hard to "forum give you an answer" that would be just a "possibility" of what could happen. Even a transmission pro will have to "guess" what is making the sound you describe". Hope this helps..
In the end ...i dont think you should go any further driving the vehicle and take it to the shop as soon as is permisable . But on the lighter side: it could only be the throwout bearings on the clutch.. .if you have time you can replace these.. but if you dont know how.. do what you need to do.. as you suggested earlier.. take it to the shop. should cost a few hundred.
Good luck. here is a little something to read: https://chevroletforum.com/forum/imp...lerating-8119/
