2015 Chevrolet Tahoe LT P0430 Diagnostic Code
SYMPTOMS: Engine Light came on, increased fuel consumption, slight almost un-noticeable loss of power, P0430 code, rich fuel smell from exhaust
05/23/2017 (Tuesday): Engine light came on. I work for Bridgestone so I took my Tahoe to Firestone. They ran a DIAG on it and first pulled the P0430 Code. Initial prognosis was the Oxygen Sensors. Next they ran an extended test and determined a premature failure of the Catalytic Converter(s). I had purchased extended warranty and when they called them they were told that these converters had a Federal Emissions Warranty from the Factory for 8 years/80,000 miles. They referred me to take the vehicle to the dealer since GM's repairs have a lifetime warranty on parts and labor.
05/23/2017: Set an appointment with Domingo Vara Chevrolet in San Antonio, TX for (Thursday) 05/25/2017
05/25/2017: Appointment - I showed up to the dealership. They turned the vehicle on and the Check Engine Light did not illuminate. Go figure. I had all of the diagnostic paperwork from Firestone so they took a look at it.
Vara's diagnostic concluded that the same thing as Firestone and they are replacing the catalytic converter(s).
I will update once I get a complete description of the repairs. I hope this helps someone.
