Default 2017 Suburban LTZ Air conditioner problems

I'm sure I wasn't doing the search properly because I found zero information, so I apologize if this is a common issue.

I have a 2017 Suburban 1500 LTZ. A/C works ok on some days, and other days just doesn't seem to get very cool at all. I'm a semi-truck mechanic by trade so I have access to any tool I would possibly need including an a/c machine. Was just wondering what I could possibly be looking at here.

Also, a big thing I've noticed: Anywhere I look online says that my Burb should have 1234yf refrigerant. But, the sticker in the engine bay says r134a. I assume that I should go by what my Burb says yes?

I did read that there has been issues with the condenser leaking on other trucks and such, but, mine actually works some days. I would think that if I had a leak I wouldn't have any refrigerant left and it wouldn't work at all.

This is my first post on here and I've lurked for a long time without signing up. I appreciate any help you guys/gals may be able to give. Thank you!!

Welcome to the forum. On the times that it doesn't cool, does it cool and then quit? If so, maybe the evaporator is freezing up. Just a guess tho. Others here can give you a better idea of where to look.

So I took our AC machine from work home last night and checked everything out. I replaced the cabin air filter, which was disgusting, with a K&N washable one. Now that I've done so, I wouldn't recommend due to it made the fan louder. I guess it was the new filter. Its definitely louder now.

Anyways, I hooked up the machine and recovered the refrigerant that was in it, I got less than a pound out. Which would lead me to thinking I have a leak somewhere. But, I ran a vacuum and leak tested it with the machine and it passed. I recharged with .92kg as depicted on the factory sticker and tested it and it blew cold again. During the recharge, I didn't have any hissing or any signs of a leak so I guess I'll just keep an eye out and see if it changes.

Thanks guys.
