Default 2019 suburban afm?

How many people drive with the afm instead of a disabler? I just upgraded from on 08, that I had a disabler plugged in. In my 19, 119k miles 5.3l, the fuel economy on the highway is much better with it one. Is it worth the risk to keep it on or just disable it? I drive mostly highway.
any thoughts?
Thanks

Heck no, it’s not worth the risk to run without one. Will it prevent camshaft or lifter failure? Honestly, I’m not sure, and I doubt it. But it’s relatively cheap, so why not use it?

I had a 2010 with the 5.3, less than 100k miles, and it already had oil consumption issues. I put the disabler on it, it helped a little, but the problem was still there, along with oil pressure issues. If someone hadn’t totaled it, I probably would’ve deleted the AFM by now.

I ended up getting an ’03 with a 6.0 just to avoid AFM altogether. Later I found out GM didn’t even put AFM on the 6.0, so if I go newer, I’ll stick with another 6.0 without it.
