Default '98 7.4L water pump removal

Hi guys, 1998 Suburban K2500 7.4L. I am removing the fan nuts and the bolts are spinning. Is their a way to access the bolt side to stop the spinning? Can I take the water pump out with the fan still attached? Any advise is appreciated! Thanks, Troy.

You can but the blades will be in the way of the water pump bolts. This is how its done. The water pump on the rear wheel drive GM's are easy, compared to Mo-Parts and F-U-B-R's, that incorporate the pump into the aluminum timing chain covers. Its all steel to the engine block, so its easy to get all the gasket material off without cutting into the aluminum timing chain covers on those P-O-S vehicles. Four bolts and the water pump is OFF. Pure genius on GM's part if you ask me.
