Broken Intake Manifold Bolt
So I'm putting my intake manifold back on after replacing knock sensors and broke the # 1 torque position bolt. Got an extractor to try and get it out and the extractor bit broke off in the hole that was drilled into the broken bolt. How do I get this mess fixed?
first off get your torque wrench calibrated or use one if you weren't. Second that can turn into a nightmare sometimes since the extractors are usually very hard metal. Do you have a way to take a picture to see exactly where everything is?
I'll take a picture in the morning. I was using a torque wrench but wasn't paying attention and set my wrench to ft/lbs instead of in/lbs. Painful and potentially expensive lesson...I know. Thanks for the reply.
try to place a nut over the broken bolt and weld through the hole in the nut...build up a bead to join the broken bolt and nut. put a water soaked rag over the open fuel lines.
