Default Drivers side mat puddle, rain only

I was given a 2001 Suburban 1500 recently. There is a leak during rain only. There will be a puddle on drivers side plastic mat. I did a little research and windshield seemed the most likely culprit, so I had it replaced. Still leaks during rain. The windshield guy did say there was quite a bit of rust at the top on drivers side. He said he sanded and primed before placing windshield.

I find a lot of threads on the net about this, but not a lot of solutions. Please advise!!

Does it have a sunroof? All sunroofs leak but they have a pan that collects the water and directs them to tubes that run down the pillars. Sometimes the tubes come off or they get plugged up.

I'd drop the driver side corner of the headliner some then run water in that area for several minutes and watch for water to appear. It could be leaking at any of the roof seams in that area. Since there was a lot of rust, it's possible a pinhole developed that's letting water through, Could also be rust in the cowl area that developed a hole. run water down there as well and look for leaks under the dash.

When you refer to the cowl area. is that the black plastic between the windshield and hood?

Yes. That's the location.

Just thought of somewhere else to check. The antenna on the roof. If it leaks there the water will run down onto the floor in that location.
