I have 2 questions, can anyone tell me why my dash lights are out when I turn on my headlights at night ? The gauges work fine. Just when I turn on the lights,the radio light even goes dim, could that be I just need to replace the dash bulbs ? Next, I have a 2001 suburban 1500 lt, with power mirrors, can I buy power,heated,signal mirrors with puddle lights,as a direct fit or is there more wiring connections that need to be done ? Any and all information is helpful....

 

Check to make sure that your panel dimmer doesnt have them off, i say that because it happened to me and it was just that simple. when i was thinking alot deeper problem

 

Thank you for the reply,It's not the dimmer switch,with that,I can turn my interior lights off and on... Everything works on the dash except the dash lights when I need them... At night I can't see how fast I am going on my dash.will change the bulbs first to see if that will help....

 

Sorry to ressurrect an old thread - but this is a safety matter...

Check that your taillights work. On many vehicles a dead dash is a warning that you have no tail lights.

If tails are out check that your dash switch is working properly, and that you aren't just running daytime running lights. Also replace bulbs in tail lights.
