How to disable side airbags in Tahoe Z71 2009 model
I enjoy driving this car in the sand dunes. The only problem I face is with the rollover sensors which has twice deployed the side airbags while driving across dunes on a side slope.
I also removed the fuse labelled 'airbag IGN' , but my intelligent car has a backup circuit which got activated and deployed the side airbags on a recent drive.
Does anyone know how I can ensure the airbags don't get deployed due to the rollover sensors inaccurately detecting a rollover.
Thanks
Goody

Welcome to the forum.
If it's like the 2008 Tahoe, the vehicle rollover sensor (note singular, need to cover only one axis) will be powered by the 15A AIR BAG BATT fuse in the undernood fuse block. Removing that fuse and the 10A AIR BAG IGN fuse should do it. Be sure to put them back before getting on the road.

Thanks Einst, My car is still under warranty and currently being fixed for the airbags. I will ask them to confirm the same as along with the airbags getting deployed the roof also gets ripped off from all sides and I definitely don't want this happening a third time.
