Default Rear defogger wire...

Hi,

One of the coiled wires on the rear defog on my 2007 Suburban has came off. Is there a special glue to use?

Thanks in advance...

Eric

Welcome to the forum.

Besides solder which would probably be impossible for the DIYer, I'd suggest trying the kit used to repair the defroster grid lines. It's a loaded conductive epoxy. Remove the connector tab from the cord, clean (Use lacquer thinner) the tab and the window where the tab goes and epoxy it back on. Some have had success w/ this method. I'd let the epoxy cure for several days unless you're in a warm climate.

This is a known problem and subsequent model years had the coiled cord stretched such that it wasn't under tension when the window is closed.

Let us know how it turns out.

Would the epoxy work in temps between 5-20? Mine broke around Christmas and its bugging me. I just dont know how good the epoxy will work when its so cold.

Personally I wouldn't try it below about 70*F.
