Stranded!!! 1989 Chevy suburban 2500 w/454. 8/5/17
So..... Yesterday was going down the highway... Had been going about 60 mph for about 5hrs (driving this one home from Florida) ... Got off an exit and I couldn't keep it running.... It finally stalled and wouldn't restart...... Earlier that morning I had trouble with it stalling when I braked and when I put it in gear..... We towed it to my son's and replaced the fuel filter... She fired right up and ran great! Ran it thru the gears with the brakes on.... No problem. Ran it down the highway about 40 min. got off and exit, had a bear of a time keeping it running..... Got it parked, let it cool, now it won't start! Pressure seems to be fine.... Fuel is getting to the throttle body but not coming out of the injectors...... Any ideas????
Won't fire by dumping gas.... Have done that twice..... Tow truck driver took a look see.... He used a tester to make sure that there was power to the injectors.... Have power..... He suggested taking the injector body apart and cleaning.... Idea being that it may be gummed up.... So doing that now. The fuel pump comes on when the key is turned, so we are assuming that it works properly..... But can't test for exact pressure...... We also used a little trick that the tow truck driver have us..... We used a 9 volt battery to test the injectors...... If they click there working....... They click
