What is this hose? I'm starting to learn about engines and I'm not sure what I'm looking at other than it's a hose and it's not attached. Pictures aren't super clear but it's a 1999 Suburban k2500 with a 7.4L/454 Vortec and the hose attaches at the exhaust manifold, routing back up to the top of the engine. First pic shows the hose and heat shroud (?) as well as the place it's supposed to attach to. The second picture is wider to show location in the engine compartment and I circled the two ends.

I've been told by a dealership that the manifold is not stock and that they won't touch aftermarket (not sure of brand); they want $2k to replace the manifold w/ stock parts and there's nothing wrong with it other than the detached hose. A separate said the hose needs to be replaced and that it isn't made anymore; they'd have to fabricate it for $350. So my questions are:

- What is this hose?
- Is it still made and if so where could I get the part?
- Is there any issue with me just reattaching myself?
- How do I identify the make of the exhaust manifold?

If the truck had an AIR pump originally then that might be the connection to the exhaust manifold.
