2001 tracker rear drum brakes
does anybody know how to get the rear drums off a 2001 tracker? this is not the first time i've worked on a car and i cannot figure how to remove the drums.
i did the front disks, no problem.

Check this link ... apparantely there's two holes in the drum for metric bolts to remove the drums.

On my 2002 Tracker you have to use 2 8MM bolts and screw them into the 2 holes in the vertical surface of the drum. The bolts push on the axel and force the drum off. I can't remember if the bolts have a fine or course thread, sorry.
did they go right in? Or did you have to forces them In? because we cannot find out what thread pitch they are, we have 8mm, but don't know the thread pitch
1.50
And 1.00
They thread only a few turns each, what other threads can we try?
From the factory the drums are drilled and tapped for M8 x 1.25 bolts. It's possible someone forced a 5/16" (7.9 mm) bolt through the hole.
If that happened the correct metric bolt will no longer fit. Your options are to try a 5/16" bolt (either 18 or 24 threads per inch) or run a metric
tap through the hole and hope you can restore the threads.
