Default Crankshaft pulley bolt

1999 Chevrolet Tracker 2.0 liter engine.

Is the crankshaft pulley bolt normal or reverse threaded? I can't get mine to budge in either direction with my 1/2" impact wrench. I don't want to shear anything when I use a beefier 1/2" or 3/4" impact wrench.

Thanks

Not positive, but I think it's right hand thread. If you don't get an answer, my suggestion is to go to an auto part shop with this, they should be able to help you.

The pulley bolt is removed by turning it counter-clockwise but the crankshaft must not be allowed to rotate.
Chevy calls out a special tool for this.

You can make the tool out of a flat steel bar.

But on the 2.0L you can just jamb a screwdriver into the flywheel.
Tighten bolt (clockwise) to 150 Nm.
