Getting warm at idle
I have a 2001 4x4 4 cyl convertible. It warms up quick and runs great. At idle when at stoplights for example it will start to creep up in temperature. Never boiling over. When I start moving or raise the idle in neutral it will come back down.
there is an electric cooling fan and a belt driven fan with a fan clutch. Belt is tight enough and I know the electric fan does work with the a/c. Questions are 1. Does the electric fan work with engine temperature? and B. At that temp should the fan clutch engage?
thanks guys.

generally speaking the electric fan is only used as a backup or once the ac is turned on. im not familiar with the tracker but i know on the impalas if you unplug the coolant temp sensor (on the thermostat) it would turn the fans on to protect the engine as the ecm has no idea what temp the engine is at. i doubt they're your issue as clutch fan should be able to cool the engine. one thing comes to mind about idle speed and overheating and that is low coolant. your water pump could be worn down but i dont see that happening in a 2000s vehicle, the fan clutch could be slipping.
