Question remove/replace dashboard "dead buttons"/"button blanks"

I have done a lot of searching for instructions on how to remove/replace the dashboard buttons for the sake of replacing a "dead button" or "button blank" with a functional button or to install a functioning button onto the "button blank" and to put it back in. But I have yet to even find anything on the whole internet regarding as to how to properly remove and replace one of these.

Is there anyone here who does know how to or have an idea of how it would be done? I'm hoping it would not involve removing the entire dash just to get at it. If it does come down to it, I may have to just try to pry one of them out not so gracefully.

For a visual reference of what buttons I am referring to, the link below is to GM's manual for the vehicle. See 2-56 for the picture. These "dead buttons" are in the places of T, V, and S.

I took out my center consoles today to clean out all the debris & dead bugs the previous owner left there. The dummy switches popped out very easily from behind/underneath, just using fingers. I think that the dash switch covers work the same way, in a week or so I'll know for sure.

Sorry for reviving an old post but I can't find any other info on these 2000 Tracker (and Vitara) switch blanks. I'm looking for info on dimensions so I can order a usb charger.

There are two sets of switch blanks - one set to the left of the steering wheel, and another set surrounding the (auto) transmission shift console. Apparently the hole sizes for these two banks are not the same, so switches would not be interchangeable?? Does anyone have any experience adding a usb charger to one of the blanks on the shift console?

BTW as I'm sure the OP knows by now, switch blanks can be removed by putting a knife edge to the side and rotating. They pop right out. NOTE the switches themselves are a little more difficult to remove. I removed a blank and then worked the switch out from behind.
