Default Tracker firing problem

My father purchased a used chevy 2003 tracker some time ago, and has been working on it since, he replaced the 2.5 V6 Suzuki motor that was completely ruined with a newer working one.

The new engine has less than 62,000 and was guaranteed to be working as soon as installed. Its spinning over, sounds great, but doesn't fire and start, he suspects the power steering pulley is out of alignment, but we have not been able to find anything on this on the internet.

There are no error codes in dashboard other than the regular start up ones. It help a lot if anyone can give any advice or suggestions he has been working on this for about 4 years and is more used to working on less electrical based vehicles and would really like to get this one finished. Thanks for your help.

don't see how a p/s pulley can cause a crank/no start
start by checking the basics
-do you have spark at the spark plugs
-fuel pressure
-compression
-any theft lights on

Sorry it took me so long to reply, we checked it again, no theft lights, and compression sounds good, but the spark plugs are not getting anything at all, we even touched it as it turned and it had no jolt at all.

compression sounds good...thats funny

distributor based system or waster spark system

if you tested for spark with a spark tester and have no spark...check for a crankshaft and camshaft position signal with a scan tool. loss of these signals will stop injector pulse and spark.

It is a distributor based system, there is no spark at all zero charge, have bought a scanning tool and it will arrive soon.
