2006 Trailblazer 4.2L Fuel Pump
I need a new fuel pump. According to my mechanic I need a 4.2L straight 6 fuel pump. The cost that he quoted for just the fuel pump is $575.00, and $260.00 for labor. I would like to know how much a good pump should cost and what brand should I buy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at Rock Auto the pumps run about $260 for an original equipment one.
The tank has to be dropped so it is going to take a couple of hours... the price you are being quoted is the retail price of the pump, your mechanic is trying to make money off of the part as well...
If you plan on keeping the vehicle *always go back with the Original Equipment brand.
