Default 2006 Trailblazer NO CRANK

Hi My name is Brad and I am new here. Let me start off by saying thank you to any and all that reply. As the title says 2006 Trailblazer 4.2L no crank. Drove to Wal-Mart started and run great, came out and all the dash lights on but no crank. Thought ok batt is dead. Hooked jumper cables up and still the same. I am thinking ignition switch, but they are pricey, and I don't wanna throw parts at it. Any and all help greatly appreciated.

It might be the wires going to the starter or it might be the starter is bad

Checked power to starter with a test light, have main power and power at the ingnition post. Thought ok bad starter. Had it towed home and the towtruck driver tried his jump box still no start. Checked battery voltage with a volt meter and it was at 8.24v. Put a charger on it for 15 minutes and hit the key and it started. I don't understand why it wouldn't jump, and hope that it is the battery cause I don't have the money right now to get expensive parts.

Bad connection probably. I have a pair of heavy duty cables that are VERY picky.
