2008 Trailblazer Suspension/Axle Questions
Good day from a new member and a newbe Trailblazer fan.
I am looking at a Certified used 2008 Trailblazer, 16K miles. I understand that the VIN can be run ( 1GNDT13S682106035 ) to obtain the list of RPO codes for the options present on the vehicle and have asked the dealer to do so. He indicates that although this can normally be done he can not do so on this vehicleasitwas originally purchased by a Major Rental Agency and that the information was somehow locked and not accessable. Does this seem likely?
The vehicle is in pristine condition but seems to ride a little "harsher" than 2 other Trailblazers I am looking at. This makes me wonder about the suspension that may be optioned on it and thus the VIN code request.
My specific areas of interest are thesuspension package (premium smooth or not) , GVWR (std or 5750#), locking rear axle or not andaxle ratio (3.73 or 3.42). (I would like to use to tow a boat overreasonablely short to moderate distances a couple of times a year.)
I know that I can try to get him to let me took at the codes on the buildlist within the vehicle but that seems like a lot of work and I am not quite sure just where to look on this vehicle to find the sticker(s) with this information.
I am not sure just how the premium suspension and 5750# GVWR availability interact with each other or not and neither is this dealer. Also which axle ratio would come as standard on this vehicle?
These are probably a lot of strange questions but Ithought that this would be the place where the experts would reside and know the answers.
THANKS in advance!
John

RE: 2008 Trailblazer Suspension/Axle Questions
shawnvw,
I want to thank you for taking the effortto run the VIN togive me such informed answers, especially since the dealer couldn't or wouldn't(although I do take some exception to being discribed as "being so full of it that...."). Yes, I do know the difference between having the XFR case in 2WD which is where it was during my drive (I switched it OUT of AUTO where it had been and INTO 2WD before leaving the dealers lot) and 4WD which would really be pretty hard on things on dry, solid pavement, wouldn't it.
Regardless, the RPO data yousuppliedfrom the VINis GREATLY apreciated. This Trailblazeris a near perfect fit for me. I guess that I had hoped, however, that it had the HD locking differential for the winter snowand the 3.73 gearing to handle a towing load better.Don't understand the difference in rideperception especially since it has the premium smooth ride suspension package; (tires maybe).
Oh well, can't have everything unless it's special ordered new and pay an extra $10,000-$12,000 more than this one is priced.
