Burning smell in my 2007 Chevy Trailblazer
Hi all,
The other day I was told that the fan stopped working in my 2007 Chevy Trailblazer. After giving it a smack on top of the dash the fan seemed to start working again. The heat although getting hot gives off a burning smell. Hopefully it may be a low fluid issue but does anyone have any other ideas what it might be?
Also when putting the car in park the gearshift seemed to be making clicking noises.
Thanks for the help.

“oldchevy” offers a good suggestion. Are you hearing any noise from the fan?
Regarding the gearshift issue, is the vehicle in 4LO when putting in park?

Thanks for the replies all,
There is no noise from the fan motor at all. It runs fine. It was a night where it was near 0 degrees if that means anything. Someone mentioned to me the resistor underneath the passenger compartment might be burning. All belts under hood seen mine.
As far as the gearshift is concerned, it did it only 1 time while in park while it was snowing. The car was set to auto.
Thanks,
Vince

Check to see if there is 12 volts coming into the resister with a meter. If there is than your fan motor is bad. From what you described it appears to be worn out brushes in the motor.

Fan motor checked ok. The blower motor connector (the 7 wire connector) was burnt out. The black wire was visibly burnt and ordered the replacement part. It was the most expensive part to replace!
Thanks for all of your help...
