Gentlemen,

I have a 97 Lumina that has started throwing a rubber burning smell from under the hood; I only just started to notice it the past few weeks and I am wondering if it is related to having the heat on. The smell seems to be coming from the area of the serpentine belt. Any ideas?

 

sounds like the belt is just a bit tight.have you checked the automatic tensioner and the alternator adjustmends? i think there should be no more then 1/4-1/2 inch of playbut check the haynes to be sure.
