overheating
paastors 2004 trailblazer overheats going around the block. the thermostat has been changed 3 times now has a 180 thermostat, water pump is new, radiator is new, new belt, new ecm, moved sensor from driver side cylinder head to upper radiator hose, i doesn't hold pressure after it heAts up it sprays steam out the fitting the new senser is screwed into. they shaved the heads and it didn't help the parts cannon was fired and missed. i used a thermal gun and it read 180 but the gauge pegs out and the engine loses power..the owner is thinking of scrapping it. i will try to see how much he wants for it.
said i could have it for free. he is tired of it. just need to finalioze it. wount count on it until it is in my hands with a title. i am wondering if it could be the transmission or dragging brakes. takes forever to heat up until i go to drive around the block then i heats up right away. i need time to tinker. won't do that until it is mine.
also no white smoke. haven't checked for blowby though. it is about 10 to 15 miles away so i can drive with the heater on max and when it starts creeping up towards the top i can pull it over and let it cool. the upper rad hose leaks where he put a metric fitting in for the coolant sensor and the threads don't quite match so it doesn't seal good.
