Question - Transfer case seal
#11
That estimate was for all costs; fluids, labor and parts. I'm bringing it in to the dealer tomorrow.
Ear Mountain:
Thanks for the reply: I checked with the dealer and they confirmed that the transfer case and the tranny share the same fluid - at least for a 2003 they do.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Got the truck back yesterday - the seal on the transfer case for the front drive shaft went bad. They did the repair for $280 - seemed a little high but I did it anyway.
While the truck was there they said I should replace the serpentine belt but want a $110 to do it. i thought that was too high. Is that belt something I can change myself?

I agree with maxxman04. I recently bought a 2005 Trailblazer. The first "accessory" I added was a Haynes manual. You should be able to replace the serpentine belt fairly easily. In fact the belt route is embossed into the shield for the cooling fan. I see it every time I open the hood. Perhaps your vehicle has the belt routing visible under the hood as well.
Not sure about the Trailblazer but on the Chevy pickup replacing the belt took me all of 10 minutes or so.

Re: Transfer Cases
A few of my vehicles have had leaking rebuilt transfer cases and its a pain to find good refurbished cores. any one got any suggestions other than Craigslist?
