My daughter has a 08 LT, suddenly developed a problem with the driver's seat seat belt in the retracted position. A couple of weeks ago it happened and she was able to get it to release, then 2 days ago it will not release and come out no matter what, does anyone have any ideas, shortcuts, tricks to get it working again? The dealer wants over a grand to repair it.

 

I take it it's locked in the fully retracted position. Could be a bad retractor mechanism as I believe the lock is activated by inertia. Might want to see if you can find a used one from a boneyard and save some money. If you do, look for one coming out of a vehicle that had a blown engine/transmission or damage to the rear end. Avoid anything from a vehicle that was involved in a frontal impact.
