Transmission Fluid Change
'05 with 155xxx. No problems, just some preventative maintenance. It's never been serviced. Complete flush, or fluid/filter change? I've never heard anything good about flushes due to crap being dislodged and causing problems shortly after. Whats your advice/experiences? Thanks.
well you shouldn't back flush or use a flushing machine that pressure pulses.
If the trans is really crudded up; the concern is the detergents in the new trans fluid will loosen debris and clog up the valve body.
modern trans fluid exchange machines allow the torque convertor to pump the fluid out and the machine pumps the new fluid in at the same rate....normal directional flow and no pressure pulsing. I have never had a problem using these machines.
I would drop the pan, change the filter, refill it and then exchange the rest of the fluid. at the next trans service...leave the filter and change all the fluid
Some folks like to remove the trans cooler line...overfill the trans 2 liters and run the engine to pump out 2 liters...shut the engine off and repeat until all the old fluid is removed.
