ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DOWNSHIFT??
I TRAVEL BACK AND FORTH TO OREGON FROM CALIFORNIA AND I WAS TOLD YOU SHOULD DOWNSHIFT TO 3 ON THE TRANNY WHEN CLIMBING STEEP HILLS. MAY I REMIND YOU THE L-6 HAS PLENTY OF POWER TO CLIMB. ALSO WHAT IF I JUST DONT DO ANYTHING AT ALL
THIS IS A 2004 LT .
I CAN SEE IF IM DRIVING THROUGH SONORA PASS (HIGHWAY 108) CALIFORNIA
WHICH HAS A 26% GRADE(THE MOTHER OF ALL GRADES) I WOULD SHIFT TO3 BUT MT ASHLAND?
CAN YOU DAMAGE YOUR TRANNY JUST BY NOT DOING ANYTHING AT ALL?
I TOWED MY P.O.S. NEON TO CALIF FROM MEDFORD, OREGON WITH A TOW DOLLY AND KEPT THE SPEED AT 45-50 MPH.
GET THIS I GOT TO MERCED FROM MEDFORD ON 3/4 TANK OF GAS. USING CRISE CONTROL
NOT ONCE DIDTHE TRANNY DOWNSHIFT .

I JUST WENT TO DISNEYLAND AND CLIMBING THE GRAPEVINE WASNT A PROBLEM. THE GRAPEVINE IS A STRETCH OF I-5 THAT IS SOUTH OF BAKERSFIELD. ITS A BEAUTIFUL DRIVE AND YOU GET TO SEE PYRAMID LAKE

All Trailblazers are equipped with a 4-speed auto transmission with overdrive 4th gear.
Leave the transmission in "D" when driving up a grade unless it shifts down into 3rd by itself and then back into 4th (overdrive) and then back into 3rd, the second time it goes into 3rd pull the lever down to "3" and leave it there until you crest the steep part hill.
If it doesn't shift down to maintain speed then leave it in "D" or you will just be wasting fuel and creating unnecessary stress on the drive train.

does it not have a tow/haul button???....this will cure all your problems....changes the shift points for the tranny, might only be a 4x4 option tho, never sold a 2wd t/blazer before, no use for one here in northern BC ....I donwshift my car coming down steep inclines less work for the brakes.
