You push the button and it goes down and then back up. Sometimes it does this 10 to 15 times before it finally catches. It did this for several months and then it got so bad that it was making a loud bang when it would finally close and the whole car would shake. Took it to the dealer and was passed from service to body shop to service and finally they said they realigned it and it was working fine. It worked fine for 2 days then started again and this time it banged every time we tried to shut it. It does not matter if you use the key fob, the button on the door or the button on the dash. Took it back and this time they said it was all fixed. I live on a 1/2 mile dirt road and they said it was dirt getting on the sensors. They told me to be sure to keep it clean and wipe all the dust off. I brought it home and the next morning went out and put a box of books in the back. I took an old t-shirt out and wiped all around the door and the frame of the car. There was no dust on it anywhere, but when I pushed the button to close it, it took 4 times opening and closing before it stayed shut. Went to town and when I delivered the box of books it took 2 times. The dealer wants me to come by and let them turn off the automatic function and just open it and shut it manually until they can get around to fixing it. I did not pay $30K for a car that I have to open manually or clean the dust off every time I open the trunk. I have never heard of this. Is anyone else out there having a problem like this? If a traverse should not be driven on a dirt road, shouldn't dealers tell people? I would have bought another model had I known I would have to deal with this. Thanks

Hi, Elizabeth.

I am so frustrated. I just took the car up to my dealer for the 3rd time and they say they are going to try to find the problem again. I bought it on Valentine's Day and it has 5864 miles on it. My husband asked what it means to set up a case with the customer assistance team? He is concerned with putting our information up on a board.

same problem! x4

I am beyond frustrated. My liftgate has been broken basically since I got my traverse. I have taken it now, now, 4 times. Sometimes the door just radomly opens. Currently, it won't close. Sometimes it closes, then opens, then closes. Usually it just doesn't work. I have been without it for almost a week this time, while my service center takes another whack at it. From what they just told me they were doing, this time, I don't have much faith they are going to repair, yet again. What's a girl to do??
