after market remote start
I have a 2009 Traverse. I had the dealer install an aftermarket remote start when I bought it. Now after 2 years of no problems the traction control and stabiltrack lights are coming on. The local dealer said the problem is the remote start and we need to have it removed and have the whole wiring harness replaced. They also said it would void our warranty. The dealer that installed the remote start said that the wiring was fine and they replaced a couple of sensors hoping it would fix the problem. It hasn't. What could be causing the problem and who do I believe.
Welcome to the forum.
The problem is that aftermarket remote start systems are grafted onto the existing wiring with splice here, snip there, all over the place. Analog circuits being what they are, I'm surprised that we don't hear more horror stories on this forum.
I kind of understand and sympathize with both parties. It's hard enough to troubleshoot TC/ESC problems without the modified wiring in the way. The local dealer is in a difficult position, GM may not look kindly on hours and hours of warranty service complicated by the nonstandard wiring. The original dealer, on the other hand, may have to restore the factory wiring on their dime. I don't really have a suggestion for you other than to be patient and let it play out. Maybe something will jump out at somebody.
