Default Anti-theft Lock System Engaged and Possible Solution

A few weeks ago, the wife was driving the Traverse to work and about 200 feet away from her office, the car displayed the anti-theft lock icon and began shutting down. This happened out of nowhere, and we found it to be strange. She stated that the steering wheel became very hard to turn and the A/C wasn't working. I thought it was the serpentine belt that snapped because it happened a year ago with the exact symptoms.

The car was towed to our garage, and the belt was intact. We were hoping it'd be that because it'd have been simple. My FIL and I performed every troubleshooting technique we read on other forums and whatever YouTube could offer to disable the anti-theft lock system for a few days. Nothing... We even got a new key to see if the one we had was the problem and still nothing.

We checked every relevant fuse and they were all closed, so we suspected that nothing shorted. We gave up and had it towed to the Chevy dealer. Chevy comes back and says that after hours of troubleshooting, they found the issue.

It turns out that the dash fuse box had shorted and needed a full replacement. The fuse box assembly shorted before any fuses could've shorted. The tech bypassed the fuse box to at least ignite the engine, and everything worked. There was no short in the wiring harness and the BCM was not the problem, either.

I honestly can't wrap my head around as to how it happened and how it'd even make sense. We did everything and needed Chevy to come up with the diagnosis. I'm hoping that if someone encounters this issue and they've troubleshot every possibilty, that the last step is to replace the dash fuse box with one from a junkyard and it gives you the solution.
