Transmission Re manufacturing - Traverse LT
Hi All, I am new to this site. Proud owner of Traverse LT 2009 and never faced any issues with my baby. For July 4th long week end went to San Antonio and was driving back to Dallas on Sunday evening. After 100 miles, I saw check engine light, ignored it first and kept driving. It was stop and go traffic on I35N and after a while, it was stalling in the low gear. So pulled over and called on ONStar. They ran diagnostics and said it threw errors on transmission and suggested that it needed to towed to a dealer. When the tow came, vehicle did not move on forward, but moved on rear.
Today Temple, TX Chevy dealer called me and said, they ran the diagnostics and suggested that Transmission need to be remanufactured and gave me estimate of $4800 including spare and labor.
Vehicle details - 69,840 miles - LT 2T 2009 Traverse
My question:
1. Are the Transmission Repair shops equally good like Chevy dealerships?
2. Will they be any cheaper than dealer?
3. Is it good to go for re-manufacturing or rebuild?
4. Any recommendations for Transmission Repair shops in Dallas?
Please advise me..
Thanks in advance
