Default 2005 Uplander-Remote keyless entry

Hi all,
My FOB for my 2005 Uplander had problem with the door unlock button a few years ago. Fixed it up nicely with the old silicone and tin foil fix. Work great until a few months ago when the whole thing just died. Changed battery and nothing. I found a few suggestions on programming the thing (hold unlock down, ignition on/off/on/off...) but it didn't do anything. I've also read that the 2005's can't be programmed.... doesn't sound right. Does anyone know? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. You read right. A scan tool is required. Schedule a visit to the service department or call for an automotive locksmith.

The tin (actually aluminum) foil circle glued on with silicone trick worked for me about two days, until the foil worked loose and shorted out the board traces. What has worked now for 2 yrs is the repair membrane from Keylessfix.com website. Are you sure your problem may not be this? If so, you shouldn't have to re-program or replace the fob.

Here's a tip. I've had my remote for 15 years. All you have to do is order a replacement from amazon, $20. When it comes, put the circuit board in the new case. What happens is the conductive material on the rubber wears off. Only other thing I've done was to resolder the battery clip and clean the contacts. BTW: anyone know how to get it out of valet mode, won't auto start!!TIA
