Hey everyone, just wondering if someone could help me out with this.

I just got a really great deal on a 2008 Chevy Uplander LS, at 88k it runs and drives perfectly and has not one spot of rust on it (which is unusual in Detroit). The one problem I have is that it does not have cruise control, and as a travelling musician this is a must have for me. I found a shop near me that can do the install for around 400$, but that's a pretty penny and I'd prefer to save where I can.

There's a little circular slot where the cruise would be and it has a detachable plastic cap, as well as having a light on the dash for activating cruise. I was wondering if this means that my car is already wired for cruise and all I need is the handle? How hard would the install be if I decided to do it myself, and exactly what all parts would I need? Any and all help would be appreciated, but if I have to have someone else do the work I'd be willing to spend the money. Thanks!

 

Hi, djv! I am in the same boat you are: I bought an Uplander with no cruise, but want to get it installed. I am disappointed that there isn't any info on this forum for this. One night I pulled up a video on my phone about installing cruise on an Uplander & it said there were only 4 wires to attach (for the factory cruise). It was late at night & I thought I would check it out later, but I haven't been able to find it since... I did find a video of a guy with a GMC pickup that didn't have cruise. He replaced his turn signal stalk with one with the cruise control, installed a fuse in the cruise control slot & he had cruise control! So, I am still hoping for a similar situation...
