2006 Key Fob Programming
How do I program a new key fob on my '06 Uplander? I've already tried the "hold the unlock button, cycle the ignition key twice, release the unlock button" trick. Please save me $80 and keep me from having to take it to the dealer to do this for me. The remote already cost $135!

Sorry, but a scan tool is needed to access the body control module to program the remote properly.
If you need additional assistance in the future, please feel free to contact me privately.

I called twenty local (sort of) dealers.
Prices ranged from 40 to 120 for programing all remotes.
They have to program all of them, that is, you need your old ones and new one together.
The vans only handle 4 remotes total.
Prices on remotes ranged from 48 to 140 at the twenty dealerships.
Only a couple would only program if you bought them there. Those had the highest prices by far.
I bought two off Ebay for 48 bucks, shipped, brand new.
Then had them programed for 50 bucks (closest, cheaper in gas than driving to the 40 dollar place).
I have 3 remotes now, only need two but by doing two at once I saved a possible 50 buck charge later.
American dollars, fyi.
Find a less greedy dealer.

The 2006 and up Uplanders can only be programmed by a dealer.
You call your local dealers and find out what they charge.
Prices vary from dealer to dealer.
Also ask if they will do remotes you bring in from somewhere else.
This is a GM 'money maker' idea, to not allow the owners to program the remotes like most other vendors allow.
Or one of the many reasons GM went under.

There is no onboard programming procedure for this vehicle. This vehicle requires special equipment be connected to the vehicle to program the keyless remote.
Please contact your dealer for programming.
