ABS Sensor
My ABS brakes were fairly recently replaced and work fine but the sensor is shot. My mechanic told me that ABS Sensors tend to go out very frequently with the 06 Uplander and wasn't worth replacing as I would just have to replace it again. I don't really feel like forking out the bucks to have it fixed, but the ABS warning light is starting to get a little annoying. Any way to get these lights out? Thanks!
Your mechanic is giving you some pretty bad advice. Is your mechanic a GM tech?
Likely fixing the broken wire leading to the wheel will keep the light out.
If you don't "fork out" the bucks to correct the issue you will have to live with the light on and no ABS. It's your call.
As always, there is throwing parts at some thing or fixing it right. Often fixing it right is cheaper overall. Again, your call.
There is a TSB on this fault that you can find on-line which involves replacing the cable ends where they lead to the wheel. Do some internet homework on this symptom and get informed.
Is it always the same wheel that sets off the light? Reading the code will tell you.
Good luck.
