Lower Control Arm Bushings Uplander 2009/ 84000 KM (53,000 Miles).
What would be the signs that these parts need to be replaced and what symptoms would the car show?
Went yesterday for an oil change and the dealer tried to push for having these bushings replaced for $450+tax. I declined of course.
Their note reads "Lower Control Arm Bushings starting to separate".
I asked them to show me and they showed me that they have a very small tendency of dis-alignment, but didn't see any oil stains around them or leakage of any type. Also, there is no rattling from wheels area when driving over bumps or irregular pavement or roads.
What would be a reasonable cost to replace these bushings and eventually if someone could recommend a shop in GTA area (Toronto).
The dealer I'm using is Eastside Chevrolet (they gave me the "heads-up" about the things I explained above).
Also I'm almost sure, if they do the replacement they will push after for a wheel alignment.
Thanks

Where else besides GM Dealers should I take the van to have these things checked (bushings and ball joints)? Active Greene & Ross? Canadian Tire? Midas? Other? I trust none of them.

An independent mechanic who has been in business for years would be a good place to begin.
Ask local friends, neighbors and work buddies. Check references with BBB.
There are lots of bad mechanics out there .. there are lots of good ones too.
Good luck
