Default Uplander signal switch cover removal

Hello van owners, I have to replace the turn signal assembly and need to remove the plastic 2 pc cover. On earlier vans the tilt adjuster just pulls out. Short of putting locking pliers on it, it seems there's more to it for this year model, 08/09. Any help would be appreciated.

Default Uplander, not Montana

Sorry for the incorrect heading, I tried to edit the heading with no luck. But, as I understand it the 08 Uplander and Montana share the same mechanics. Sorry again for posting the wrong GM model.
Should also have posted that the issue is while all bulbs parking, running and braking are all fine, when I signal either direction the indicator on the dash flashes rapidly and none of the signal bulbs blink(flash). Emergencies don't work either. Thanks for your time.

I am having the identical problem with my 2005 uplander. The ignition switch cylinder is preventing the top cover from coming off so the turn signal switch can be replaced. I cannot see how to remove the cylinder. Anyone know?

Thanks in advance

A friend of mine had a look at it. He does collision repair and said the steering wheel will probably have to be removed. They the lock cylinder can be released. That was his best guess. I cannot find anything on the internet that shows this in detail. I am thinking of going to a service desk to see if they have any info. Is the information age over?..... Lol

Default Montana signals not working

So one thing that appeared to have worked is cleaning of the wire terminal that goes to the front of the fuse box under the hood. When this terminal gets corroded it has created all sorts of electrical issues. Non starts, erratic gauges, horn sounding, radio volume not working and apparently signal issues. Cleaned it up and everything is A ok.
