I had the same problem with my 2007 uplander and had it fixed with no problem. before spending all the money on needless repairs check the e-brake cable. Mine had come loose and was clunking the undercarriage when i went over a bunp at almost any speed.

i think im having the same problem with my 04 chevy 2500hd when i go ofer bumps the front makes a weird knocking noise and the steering goes out for a second or two. what can i do?

whenever I go over a bump, there is a metallic CLANK coming from the back, any ideas?

Hey ljdoughty! The metallic CLANK could be from a number of things. Have you taken your dealership technician on a test drive with you yet? Yes, check for something loose.. maybe exhaust related.

When strut bearings go out they can make clunking sounds... also sway bar bushings, shock bushings...
Worn out shocks can allow the body to rest too low causing clunking....

me too exact same problem I'm having I can't figure it out no loose bolts are no open mind not four-wheel-drive but it makes me just want to strangle somebody

Try to look your rear damper rubber attached to your parking brake...i was also crazy looking for the sound when i go to humps and hear this noise...This is what i found when this happened to me. Hope this helps..
