Has anyone had trouble removing the Uplander headlights? On my '08 Cargo, it seemed simple enough removing the lock pin/bolt and the one 10mm bolt but it won't hardly budge. I'm thinking it's the rubber weatherstripping around the headlight housing and is keeping the headlight from coming out. I can't budge it from any direction.

I didn't have time to fool with removing the front grill which might help but was just wondering if it's usually this much of a pain...I wanted to upgrade the headlights this evening...

It took me 35 mins to figure this one out. Youre right the sliding pin and 10mm has to come out. Then remove the two black plastic plug/mounting pins (on the top of the grill by prying up with a flat screwdriver) closet to the headlight you are trying to replace. Yank on the headlight (forward)firmly to dislodge the final mounting point located behind the headlight assembly. Once loose you can move the grill enough to get out the head light. I hope this helps.

 

I haven't done a headlight yet on a uplander but on my trailblazer I had to remove part of the griil between both headlight then there were 2 lock pins/tabs on top Basicaly there were 4 rubber plug/pin off the back side of the light housing which the top 2 the lock pin secured. When you change the blub don't touch it with your bare hand the oil from your skin screws up the blub If you have remove the grill better if you do it in warm weather. the plastic can be very brittle when its cold

 

I just looked at my wife's uplander. its looks like the is a l shaped rod like a hex wrench 1 per light on the center side of the car On the outside side of the car , there appears like a 10-12mm nut. I assuming you rotate the rod 90 degrees or so and remove the nut. Its a tight fit but you will gentlely rock the lens unit out. Don't pull to hard because there not enough slack in the wire harness. You may have to remove some of the other light blubs to get the whole unit out Usally the harness has a connector conneted to the light. each connector will have a clip that you have to push to disconnect the connector. let me know how it works out

 

Changing headlites on the Uplander, there are some good threads with pictures and no guessing previously on this forum.... have a look.

 

Interesting, never found anything while searching the forum....I pulled the lights and replaced the factory bulbs with high output (highest lumen halogen H11 bulbs/dot legal bulbs available) a few weeks ago.
