Take it to a local trusted mechanic. Get an estimate from him.
Find out exactly what is broken and a part/labour breakdown of the estimate.
Let us know what you find out....

Agreed...a big part of that repair will be labor and you'll pay a premium for it at the dealer.

If possible could you post the breakdown of the dealer's estimate (parts & Labour) and also the name of the dealer. Thanks.

Angry Engine Noise

The labour is the most expensive part of the quote as it is an estimated 14 hours of labour as the break is in a really bad spot, right between the firewall and the engine itself and its Chevrolet Hilderbrand. Parts are a total of 1,121.26, Labour total 1,984.50, a shop charge of 200 to remove bolts that are stuck to the manifold i.e rusted on, any miscellaneous 50, G/HST 157.78. All of this combined is the total quote of 3,513.54.
I am not paying that.

How are you making out getting your repairs done?
Have you received an estimate from a local mechanic yet? .....

I wonder how the exhaust got broken, I don't believe that is a common fault. Did someone run over something? Back into something?

I'm not sure how it broke, maybe a bolt fell off or maybe it was a faulty part. I have had the rear bumper replaced before as some lady didn't see the light change to red and hit me, but it wasn't a hard hit, she just cracked my bumper. Last christmas I left my van in a parking lot and came out and found that the right corner of it was scratched and red paint was on it.
I'm going to see an exhaust specialist this weekend to get another quote. The way it is now it will definitely fail it's emissions test.

I've replaced a couple manifolds on a Jeep Grand Cherokee.. After having fitment issues on the 2nd one, I think the motor mounts were bad.. And considering how the owner would always "punch" the gas pedal with her foot, I could see how it would break.

Default new problem

jeez my van is full of problems, so now my alarm will go off at random times like for instance I was a couple feet away from my van and no one was close or around it and it went off twice in 2 minutes, first time is stopped itself, second time I had to open it and start it to shut it off and it has done this 7 times this week any thoughts?
