Default 2000 venture "security" warning

I have an intermittant problem with the message display "security".
The dealer has cleared the code and reset, but I still get this message about every 8 or 9 times I start the car. The light goes out when I turn it off and doesn't come back on until after about 8 or 9 restarts.

I have been told the ignition key switch has a passlock sensor that is the probable cause of the problem.
Does anyone have any information on this repair?

Thanks
Chuck

Strictly speaking, yours has PASS-Key III (transponder) which is a different animal than Passlock (Hall effect sensor). I'm not quite sure how it is with 2000 Venture but there's usually a reader/exciter module that's mounted around the lock cylinder and a theft deterrent control module that gives the PCM a go/no-go decision. So, the problem is a little more complicated than the usual Passlock variety.

Thank you, The dealer repaired my keyless key fobs and reset the code (suposidly).
But I still have this problem . I returned to the dealer and he said he cleared and reset the code.
he said he found code B2734 ion history per flow chart Do not replace any parts so cleared code.

Does this mean he just needs to clear the code again?

You're quite welcome. B2734 means "Coded Key Controller Memory Failure," i.e., the theft deterrent control module detected a checksum error in its NVRAM. Resetting the code isn't fixing the hardware. I'm surprised that they didn't recommend replacing the module. I guess it depends the cost vs. how long you intend to keep the vehicle.
