OK, I searched this forum and found a couple of very old posts similar to my questions, but none with answers useful to me (I'm not sure if any of the answers were useful to the one original poster who had the question closest to mine).

My grand daughter just got a 2003 Venture. Overall it seems to be a very nice van. There were two things that seemed worth doing something about. (1) The headlights were discolored, scratched, and fogged. We just replaced them. Big improvement, problem solved. (2) There was no remote key fob. We got one from an online shop I have dealt with before. The remote seems fine. We have the programming instructions. But the van would not seem to go into programming mode. It was her husband trying to program the remote this afternoon and I think he was doing everything right, but I'll probably try it again myself tomorrow while he's at work - a second set of eyes certainly won't hurt.

My question is whether or not all Ventures had remote keyless entry, and if not how can I be sure whether this one does or doesn't?

 

Progress! On about my third attempt, I got the Ventrue to go into programming mode. The remote I have is a 5-button remote. Only the lock and unlock buttons work with the Venture. The side door buttons don't work, but that's not a big surprise because apparently the doors on this one are manual only. I was a little surprised that the horn alarm button doesn't work, but that's not a big deal.
