I have a 2002 venture, the fuel gauge drops to empty when stopped or driving slow and moves back up over 40 mph. I wouldn't think it is the sender since I have changed it twice with different brands with the same result.

 

 

Hi! Check the connector located under the car's bottom. It is located on the driver's side, in the area of the sliding door. Clean the connector.
