Default locked stereo

I recently installed a new battery in my 99 Venture. When I went to listen to the radio, instead of seeing the time there was the word LOC. I called the chevy dealer and they said it would be $50 dollars for 30 mins of work. And for some reason they will not give me, the owner of the van the code to unlock the stereo myself. Does anyone have the info I need. Cause I CANT LIVE WITH OUT MY RADIO!!!!

You have to retrieve the code from the radio then it has to be called into a place to get the unlock code the dealer will have to use there dealer code thatis why you can't do it yourself. It doesn't take 30min. it only takes about 5min. of work.

go to the dealer, get them to do it, but make sure that hey give it to you when they are done as you are entitled to have record of it if your batterey every goes dead or gets d\c in the future

I think it's bull that customers need to pay to get THEIR codes out of THEIR radio's. Who in their right mind would steal a factory deck?!
