I am new here, and need knowledgeable help. First I took the transmission out of my van. (long story short, it was going and from 40km/hour to 80km/hour I had to shift into 2nd so it would not rev, I forgot what I was doing and went from drive to reverse going uphill instead of the other way into 2nd). Okay now that everyone has stopped laughing, and thinking she is some dummy (my mind was in neutral and I thought I was already in 2nd going back to drive), here is my question.

When looking for a replacement used transmission (this van has 200,000 km on it, but I am not done paying on it) do I have to specifically get a transmission from a chevy venture, or could I for instance get one from an Impala if it was the same size motor? I am trying to find a venture transmission but having a hard time finding one that is not $1000......

Thanks in advance for the help. And I am not usually dumb enough to put a vehicle in reverse going uphill!!!! Honest!
