a rusted 1954 Chevrolet 3100 pick up salvaged

a guy bought this truck in an auction 20 years ago and had it stripped of paint and dismantled it totally for restoration. He abandoned the project and left the pick up to rot for almost 20 years with parts lying scattered in an empty plot. Since there aren't many classic projects available in this part of the world, I was tempted and finally picked it up two years ago. I have yet to start restoration but have started planning it now. I look forward to some help and guidance from this forum. One thing confuses me is it's year of production as it has the front grille of a '54 but split window cabin of '53. Can anyone put some light on this.
