Default A temp. fix for an Impala actuator problem?

Typical problem-a clicking sound after the AC is turned off. Dropped the glovebox and located the problem actuator. For me, impossible to get at. However, by sliding a piece of wiring underneath the door and tying it off so it will not slip, the door closes on top of the wire when the AC is shut off, probable leaving it slightly open at the bottom. At any rate, there is no clicking. Question: Because the door is not completely closed, does this cause a drain on the battery? Any other side effects of utilizing this procedure?
