2001 Chev S10 LS 5-speed Manual. I am not a mechanic. Dealer says it has the New Venture Transmission. Started to pop out of gear every now and then. Next, I lost 5th gear: It would go into 5th but just revved up the RPMs, no engaging into gear. I would hear what sounded like spinning gears (not engaging), sometimes when I shifted. Later, I lost Reverse gear. I can drive it 1st through 4th gear. I make sure that I don't need reverse, locally.

i would take it back to the dealer that installed the new venture transmission seems they messed it up on install

No. The transmission is the original transmission with 89,000 miles. The dealer just told me on the phone what kind it was when I gave him the vin#. Thanks, though. I am trying to figure out what is wrong with it so I can buy the parts and have a friend try to fix it. Or.. maybe I should just put a junkyard transmission in it for $250 and quit trying to problem solve it. Hope it's not an easy fix

I would just go to a salvage yard and get one. It would probably cost you more in parts thatn a salvage yard tramns would..Just be careful with what you get.
